AYSO Area 2A Tournaments are Coming!
December 1st and 2nd, 2012
AYSO Area 2A hosts Area Tournaments in the Under-10, Under-12 and Under-14 divisions the first weekend in December. The winner of each Area 2A Tournament will advance to the Section 2 Tournament held December 8th and 9th in Foster City. Each player in the tournament receives an Area 2A Tournament pin and the players on the four teams advancing to Sunday's semi-final each receive tournament medals. Complete tournament rules will be sent to each team that is participating. Under-14 and Under-12 Tournaments 16 teams are invited to each tournament. For the Under-12 tournaments, the number of teams representing each region is determined as a percentage of the total number of teams that region has in a given division in proportion to the total number of teams in the Area. 2012 Under-12 tournaments - team counts by region:
Tournament Format: Unless weather dictates otherwise, each team is guaranteed 3 shortened games which will be played as part of a pool of 4 teams on Saturday. The winner of each pool will then return on Sunday to play in the semi-final game and then either the final or consolation game. Under-14 will be played 11 players versus 11 while Under-12 will adhere to the AYSO Short Sided Guideline playing 9 versus 9. Under-10 Tournaments 4 teams are invited to each of the inagural Under-10 tournaments - one each from Regions 25, 43, 44 and 45. Due to running separate Under-9 divisions where their Under-10 teams predominantly consist of 4th graders, Regions 26 and 109 will not be participating this year as those teams can not participate in the Section 2 tournament the following weekend. Tournament Format: Unless weather dictates otherwise, each team is guaranteed 2 full-length games on Sunday. The first game is a semi-final game and then either the final or consolation game.
